My younger son is autistic – ten, going on five-years-old-forever – surprisingly capable of interacting intelligently with computers. The “touch-sensitive” system would increase his options for interaction which, together with life-skills training, is how we spend the majority of our time…

My older son, uncomplaining and volunteering, has gotten shortchanged in so many ways – but his heart is big, and this package would improve the “balance”. He is already talking about going into Special Needs Teaching. A computer and printer are needed for his schoolwork – the Microsoft package would help there, too.

We are members in a larger community, the non-profit Autism Society of Greater Orlando (ASGO). While providing much-needed opportunities for social interaction with others in our situation, sharing tips and techniques, they cover most of their operating costs with fundraisers at events, predominantly silent auctions and raffles. I would like to give ASGO a piece of this package, and let them choose the path of most benefit – giving it to a deserving home (I trust ASGO to know whose situation would benefit the most) versus possibly getting better use of funds as an auction item. ASGO would also happily benefit from some publicity about the donations, too.

Lastly, one of my son’s special needs assistants is off to College this spring, after working with him several hours a week for the last year – I want to share one of these systems with her. She’s a sweet person, a work-a-holic, and this would definitively “Share the Magic”!!

Merry Christmas!

I would be thrilled to donate some of the giveaway items to a wonderful local ministry that I have donated to before. Providence Ministries not only operates a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program, it also operates:

- Two homeless shelters
- Two boys' homes
- Three thrift stores (proceeds from stores fund all of the outreaches provided)

Unfortunately, far too many people are losing their homes and in need of homeless shelters and basic needs as food and clothing, even if only for a brief time. Providence makes a difference in the lives of many kids and adults. Providence also recognizes the spiritual needs of each person, not just the physical and emotional needs.

Providence could really use the Mini 1000, MediaSmart Connect, and some of the other "prizes" for their operations but also to minister to all those they reach out to on a daily basis.

On a more personal level, we have 4 children and homeschool them through a virtual online academy. The school is free thru the state, but it is hard to be poor enough to get a free computer. So, we make do with what we have. Our four kids all share a 5 year old computer in need of upgrading (Compaq pictured at the link above).

Also, the only TV we have ever had is one that I bought in 1992, a 19-inch Magnavox. (Picture at the link above) That's all the kids have ever known. The TouchSmart PC could possibly replace our TV and provide a newer computer at the same time. The TouchSmart or one of the laptops would be a huge blessing to the kids (as well as mom and dad) and help tremendously with school.

Yes, a newer PC or TV would be one less thing to worry about for us as a family, but more importantly, I would love to be able to help Providence or other local efforts to help those who are hurting far more than we are.

I'd love to be able to give computers to my family. I'd keep one for myself as my computer is 10 years old. I'd be thrilled to give the rest away. I'd give one to my mom as she's never had a computer that works right. I'd give the others to my cousins, they have old computers with problems as well. They are students and could definitely use these computers and the software for school and fun. I'd also give the printer to a family member. The dvds would be gifts as well. They are all deserving and it would be so nice to see them enjoy these computers. I've never gotten to do anything so nice for my family and I'm moving far away soon so these would be great to help us all stay in touch easily too. This is such a great and generous giveaway, thanks for the opportunity.

I would donate the desktop (TouchSmart) and both of the notebooks to NorthStar Youth Ministries in Birmingham, AL (http://www.northstaryouthministries.org/). My girlfriend has worked directly with that non-profit organization, and she has relayed to me how desperately the camp needs new computers. Both the staff of NorthStar and the children who go through the program could benefit from the use of these cutting-edge computers (I firmly believe that one of the ways out of poverty is good education, especially with computers).

I would also donate the software too, of course. I personally am really only interested in the Mini and the printer.

I don’t believe I necessarily need all of the computers but one to swap out the one I’m using now and another to replace the family desktop computer. In other words, and only if I were to win, I will be a great, great Santa Claus for my family and friends by giving away 10 large items. I’m one of the many who love to see it when people are given gifts by others, especially by me.

My mom lives at the peace place shelter and is always asking me to help get her a computer. I’m very close to my mom and love it when I give her things in return for the things she’s given me. After both my parents split, I hate to see my mom suffer watching all her children and me leave her to stay with my dad. I don’t know if she knows I love her so very much, but if I could give her something, I won’t have to stress over it every now and then about if she’s doing fine or not. I worry for her, and none of my siblings will ever visit her but me; but because of an incident, I’m restricted from going to see her at the peace place. She’s alone and she doesn’t deserve it. A computer system will not surely heal her of her scars and relieve her hardships. But if I were to give to her my greatest gift to her, it relieves me to know that she should know that I still love her.
As I have said before, I love seeing the love of giving gifts to others. Everyone I love needs a gift from me. I of course won’t have enough gifts to everyone, nor will each gift be just as good each one. I don’t think I should be able to judge who should be my best friend, cousin, brother, sister, parent, uncle, or aunt, etc. Though I’m prone to doing that, no one should get a gift much greater than the other. I love Christmas and hopefully I’ll be able to give gifts than ask for them.

Currently I am attending college at UCI so if I won this prize I would share it will all my ramen loving college friends.

For myself I would keep the hp mini.

The 18 inch laptop I would give to my boyfriend. His old computer is on its last leg. It has had one to many all night programing sessions.

The touch would go to my one friend who is currently without computer at all. All his money goes to rent or food so this would be a great treat for him.

The smaller laptop would go to another friend who overheated her computer. She needs a new laptop for all the MCAT studying she plans to do. She cant by one herself because she is using all her money to put herself and her sister through college with her current 3 jobs.

The mediasmart and kung panda would go to my staving art school friend.

The software would all be used to update the computer in the campuswide honors program study room so it could help the most students possible.

The picture paper would be used to decorate this room with all the great college times we have had.

Finally the printer would go to my daddy since he was kind enough to rush his printer up to me at college when mine died the night before my huge paper was due.

I am a senior in High School who will be going to college next year. Me and my friends like to play games together, but currently three of them don't have computers. One had his hard drive crash, one's computer is too old to play any new games, and the other has never had a good computer. I would keep one of the laptops for myself so that I can take notes in college and give the other computers to my friends. That way we can play games all the time, not just when we get together. The media extender I would give to my parents, so that they can organize the mess of boxes under the TV. Since I already have Office, I would give that to one of my friends as well. My sister or maybe one of my cousins would get the DVD, because they would like that. I would give the printer to either my family or my church, because I already have a good printer. Probably my church, because we don't need another printer in the house.

My son, 17 is a senior that plans on going to college. The HP HDX would exceed anything I could give him for graduation. He deserves the world, if only I could give it to him.
My other son,10 would truly benefit from the HP Touchsmart PC. He is legally blind. Our current computer does not meet his visual needs and a new one is not forseen in the near future. I could just cry picturing him enjoying the computer like other kids his age.
He would benefit from a notebook at school as well. The computer has a vision program loaded for him, but it doesn't always works properly for him. If he could not use it at school I surely would find someone that could use one. He would love to donate it to the Lion's Camp that he attends every summer. I'm sure the accessories in this package would probably go to them as we wouldn't need them all. Elijah loves to give, he's got the biggest heart out of anyone I know.
My mother would get a notebook as well. She's my back bone. I don't know what I would do without her. Her computer became too out dated for internet service about a year ago. And now, it took a total dive. She will not be able to get a new computer again.
My 2 year old son would say, "OH WOW!" with big eyes and all. We'd sure share the joy with him.

Did you know that record numbers of animals are being left behind due to the recession? There is an epidemic number of animals that are simply being left to fend for themselves while homeowners are being forced out of their homes. Our countywide SPCA clinic is underfunded and commits themselves to placing animals, they are a no-kill shelter and desperately need additional funds and equipment to do what they are so passionate about. With record numbers of animals being picked up and saved-they need help.

If I were to win this package, I would keep one laptop to help grow my web design business, where I also donate 5% of every project to our SPCA or The Best Friends Animal Sanctuary which you can visit at http://www.bestfriends.org/. Currently, everyone seems to deal with some sort of financial burden. Despite being college educated, I have been out of work for about 6 months and am definitely feeling the weight of these economic times. While the accumulation of wealth has never been a goal in my life, I feel now more than ever that the world we live in does revolve around money. I often ponder over how one needs money to get ahead in life. Being extremely diligent and hard-working does not guarantee success and everyone has a breaking point. So … do you believe in angels? An angel is an entity that embodies beauty, purity, kindness and whose actions and thoughts are consistently virtuous. While I am not an angel, winning this HP Magic Giveaway contest would allow me to play one for one moment in my life. I would like to extend the gifts four ways: to a young child with their fullest potential yet realized, to a young adult learning to spread their wings, to a community that can benefit from it daily, and for me, so that I can make my impact in the world. When I first heard about the giveaway, I immediately knew that I wanted to get a laptop for my dad.

I am the oldest of five kids. Throughout my entire life, both of my parents have worked so hard to give us ample opportunities. They put in hundreds of hours and dollars so we could play instruments and sports, so we could go to college. My dad has been working three jobs for the past two or so years to help pay for the increasing costs of living and of having two children at a time in various colleges. One of those jobs is a business that he runs. It’s a no-frills type of business; his warehouse doesn’t have power, and he uses a headlamp to fill orders! I would love to get him a laptop for work, because he doesn’t have one. I’ve gone through two; one of my brothers is also on his second, and another is on his first. When I purchased my current laptop, I wanted to give my old one to my dad, but the old one stripped its power jack and is non-functional.

I would also give my baby brother, who is starting college next fall, a laptop; I would be worried my dad would give his up to him anyway! I would love to give the Mini to my mom’s classroom; she teaches in a public school, and I would like to be able to provide something exciting to her students.

I'm the entire library staff in a small Maine town that's currently facing a 1.6 million dollar budget crisis. In the two years I've been here, I've increased membership by 50% and circulation by 150%. Many of the kids in town see the library as a friendly and safe place to hang out and not worry about being judged or looked down upon. I spend a fair amount of time listening and responding to their questions, worries and frustrations as best I can. I've even invested a fair amount of my own money expanding the Manga, DVD and music collections so there will be something for everyone to borrow, regardless of reading ability or interest.
In addition to teens, many local business people and job seekers rely on access to the internet through our 3 public access computers, but they are 4 years old.
As things stand now, funding for replacement computers or additional computers is nowhere on the horizon. We do, however, offer 24/7 wireless, so winning some new laptops or wireless capable desktops would really help ease the waiting time and frustration by people of all ages who need to use the internet at the library.

First of all, I'm Hungarian, and a former HP employee. Now I run my own business.

Remaining PC, printer AIO and the entertainment pack are still to be decided where to donate. I'd be happy to say that this or that is to go to a hospital or school or a church, but the right place is to be searched for.

So I ask myself, Self, Why do you think you deserve such an awesome prize. Do you blog well? uhm no. Are you a good person? I like to think so. Are you generous? To a fault sometimes. Do you work hard? Yes I do. Have you had a crappy year? I have had my share of problems, although I feel really bad for a lot of others that find themselves out of work, out of homes, out of food. GREED is a problem these days. Where were these people when they were doing well and the middle class was having a hard time feeding our families and getting healthcare? They were making money and patting each other on the wallet with million-dollar bonuses. My brother watched 4 co-workers get the boot, knowing the owner of his business was presently building THREE custom yachts. GREED is WRONG. So I don't want all $6000 worth of products. I do a lot of volunteer work and the laptop (an old Toshiba someone had given me) was broken when I fell down my apartment stairs last week. Needless to say I am like a boat without a rudder. I have been using my daughter's macbook when she is gone but I can't take it with me to Volunteer meetings or to event sites. A new computer would be a major blessing, I can't give money to these worthwhile non-profits but I can offer myself and my time and part of that has been my ability to help out with letter writing, spreadsheets, one-sheets, press releases etc that I have always been able to do on my computer. If I win this computer, no worry that it will end up on EBAY, it will be put to good use helping others. I would also like to give some of the hardware and soft ware to a teacher, Miss Iyes, who was an inspiration to my daughter, she helped her get a scholarship to Cal-Arts for the summer because of her my daughter now wants to me an animator.
I know she uses some older equipment and some was stolen so I would like her to get some so she can inspire other children.

I would also like to give something to Diane who teaches youngsters musical theater. They put on a complete show each summer and then she works with 1-6 graders in an after-school program and I know she can always uses any help she can get

We are planning to have an open houses celebration at our home on New Year's Day for friends and family. Our son is out of the military after 11 years and 3 tours in Iraq. Instead of gifts I was going to ask peole to bring non-perishable food,a paper good or toiletry. I plan on having a big box covered in wrapping paper by the door for them to put the item in to be donated to the local rescue mission. We are not wealthy by any means and our income has been down by half due to the economy and health issues but I always learned when things are hard that is time to give more. I've been planning the menu for days. I will admit I would keep two of the computers- one for my son who is in all honors and AP courses in high school and is using a 10 year old slow desktop and will be needing one as he goes off to college and the other for a son who worked through high school to buy his own laptop. He helped put himself through college with scholarships and waiting tables and is in the working world and the computer he bought just died completely. I would add part of this prize package to the Rescue missions box. They get donations before Christmas but it would be nice to give them something afterwards.
